Summary 0000023: Improve Shadow Support
Description Cut out the extra blit by allowing a Texture object to be specified as a target. Use the zbuffer to keep tabs on which pixels have been shadowed.

May improve performance, may not.

Pros: No extra blit/combine
Cons: Zbuffer clearing/setting/checking

Could put off the clears by using a sliding window.

Decided to instead allow a texture to be used as the background of a display. This means that the shadow display that renders the view from the shadow camera can use the texture of the object onto which the shadow will be mapped as a source.

Decided to make it possible for StandardDisplay to do textured clears. That was the background of the shadow map can be blitted from the surface texture. This works very nicely is is much quicker :)
